Privacy policy
What personal information this site collects, why it is collected, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who is responsible for your data
This section is not complete. The legal entity responsible for the personal data collected through this site, its registered address and its contact details for privacy enquiries have still to be confirmed and published here before launch.
What we collect, and why
The table below describes information you give us through this site and how its features use it. Technical request information is described separately below.
| Where | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Member account | Your name, email address, password hash, confirmation status and sign-in security records. | To provide your account, confirm your email, protect sign-in and manage your settings. Passwords are not stored as readable text. |
| Community forum | Your displayed name, topics, replies, reports and moderation records. | To host discussions for signed-in members and handle reports. The public preview shows board descriptions and counts, not topic titles, messages or author names. |
| Contact form | Your name, email address and the message you write. | To read your enquiry and reply to it. |
| Newsletter sign-up | Your email address. | To record your request for updates. You can contact us to withdraw that request. |
| Job application | Your name, email address, telephone number and your CV. | To assess your application for the role you applied to, and to contact you about it. |
Please avoid including sensitive or unnecessary personal information in enquiries or forum discussions. The platform does not make automated recruitment decisions.
Technical information and cookies
The application uses cookies for sign-in, request-forgery protection and temporary form messages. Network addresses are used for request security and rate limits. The application does not include analytics or advertising trackers, and its fonts are served by this site. Hosting and proxy providers may keep request logs.
This section is not complete. Like any website, this one is served by a web server that keeps standard request logs. Whether the site sets any cookie beyond what is strictly necessary to serve a page, and whether any analytics are in use, has still to be confirmed and described here before launch.
Our legal basis for using it
Which basis applies depends on what you did:
- Contact form — our legitimate interest in responding to someone who has asked us a question.
- Newsletter — your consent, given when you signed up, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Job application — the steps taken at your request before entering into a contract of employment.
How long we keep it
This section is not complete. A retention period has still to be set for each of the data flows above, including whether the CVs of unsuccessful applicants are kept on file for future roles. Personal data should not be held indefinitely, and this page must state how long each type is kept before the site launches.
Who else sees it
Running a website means using service providers — somewhere to host the site, somewhere to store a CV, something to send email. Those providers process personal data on our instructions only, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
This section is not complete. The specific providers used, what each one receives, and the country in which each processes data have still to be listed here — along with the safeguards applying to any transfer outside your jurisdiction.
Your rights
You can change your name, password and email from My account. Deleting a member account removes its sign-in, profile and current newsletter subscription. Forum discussions remain under “Deleted member”; applications, CVs, enquiries and personal information written inside posts may remain. Use the contact page for a broader data access or erasure request.
You can ask us to do any of the following with the personal data we hold about you:
- See it — get a copy of it, and be told what we use it for.
- Correct it — have anything inaccurate or incomplete put right.
- Delete it — have it erased, where there is no overriding reason for us to keep it.
- Restrict it — have us pause using it while a dispute about it is resolved.
- Move it — receive it in a portable format, or have it sent to someone else.
- Object to it — object to our using it where we rely on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — where you gave consent, withdraw it at any time. That does not affect anything done before you withdrew it.
Exercising any of these rights is free, and you will not be treated differently for it.
How to ask
Send us the request through the contact page and say what you would like us to do. We may need to check who you are first, so that we do not hand your information to someone else.
This section is not complete. A dedicated address for privacy requests, the time limit for responding to one, and the supervisory authority you may complain to if you are unhappy with our response have still to be confirmed and published here.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version is published on this page. Where a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you rather than rely on you noticing.
